Reverse causation and hidden lifestyle factors remain live possibilities that future trials need to test directly.

The people studied were also a specific group, adults already flagged as at risk for knee osteoarthritis, not a cross section of healthy young adults or athletes. Whether the same muscle fat pattern shows up in a 35-year-old marathon runner or a teenager living on fast food remains unknown. The Pushback Worth Hearing
